PCC292 Sketch Challenge

Paper Craft Crew

Sketch Challenge #292

Hi everyone!  Today I’m posting my submission to the Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.  This is the first time I’ve played along with PCC and I really enjoyed working with their sketch and coming up with my design.

I’ve included a project supply list below if you’d like to see all the items I used to create my card.  I added the chair from the seasonal layers thinlits set, however, the florals in the eclectic layers set would have worked just as well.  The touches of nature elements were a great fit and I love how one side is natural while the other side is white.  The overlays I hadn’t played with before and I really liked how the design fit with the rest of the elements in the card yet was subtle.  I think had I used a normal DSP for the banner it would have been too much.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Playing with Feathers

Hi!  Thanks for joining me today.  This is the challenge that sparked my creativity yesterday:

We have a few simple rules to keep things fun and fair for all of our players:
  1. Please use any crafting product you would like to use.
  2. Feel free to combine our sketch with up to THREE other challenges.
  3. Please add a DIRECT link to your blog when adding your card to the linky below.
  4. Please include our sketch and a link back to Freshly Made Sketches on your post.
  5. Have fun!
This challenge will end on Monday, February 11th at Noon (PST). On Tuesday, we will be announcing the winner of this week’s sketch challenge who will known as the “Queen of Clean” and each Design Team Member will choose one “Princess”.

Don’t forget if you’d like to play along, read more information or look at more inspiration, click on the Freshly Made Sketch image above to visit their website.

A while ago, I was in the dollar store and had picked up a package of assorted coloured feathers.  They had stayed in their package for several months, until yesterday, when I had an inspiration of something I could do with them.

It wasn’t the plan to use them, the feathers, I was working on a card for the new challenge from Freshly Made Sketches and once I was done with the card, I was onto another one.  The card for the challenge was made using discontinued paper from Stampin’ Up! I had liked the corset images and had decided to use one of the corsets as a focal point for the card.

This is the card for the challenge:

From there, another card with more of a burleque feel to it had emerged in my mind and I was playing with that when the feathers caught my eye — after all, when you think of burlesque, do you not think of old saloons, corsets, and feather boas?

This is what I created:

I may colour in parts of the corset too.. it almost feels like it’s in too much contrast to the rest of the card.  Decisions, decisions!!

And then.. not leaving well enough alone, I had to add some feathers to my first creation.  They’re not affixed as I’m still playing with the idea and not sure if the white and turquoise feather should be included.  What do you think?  Was is finished without the feathers or should some stay?  I just can’t decide.

Looks like it will be another quiet day at home.  It’s already 10 AM and everybody is still sleeping (except for me.)  I’m going to enjoy it though.. Monday and the rest of the week will come soon enough! lol

Till next time..

It’s a Friday Mashup on a Sunday Stamp!

Good morning everyone..

Yesterday was…

02caf6aa4e65a4b07e4d5d7d3897-227x250And Ontario’s famous groundhog, Wiarton Willie, didn’t see his shadow!  So.. the prediction is, spring will be here early.  Personally, I think this is a little optimistic but, hey! One can hope… and I, for one, will be feverishly hoping!!

Somehow the weekend has been speeding along, and I’ve been swept up along with it!  We had a wonderful dinner at my sister and brother-in-laws home last night, my mum was there also.  John took Shannon out in my car to teach her how to drive standard.. apparently she was beaming the whole time and did a great job!  A little more practice and she’ll be able to drive alone.. I’m so happy for her, and just a little freaked out that my baby is all grown up now and soon will be able to drive my car alone!!

And while being swept off my feet by the love of my family, I almost forgot to post today!

The Friday Mashup and the Sunday Stamps challenge were both posted and I just have to share.. These are both fun challenges this week.. Spring is definitely in the air!

This is what I came up with.  I hope you like it!  Wish me luck.. I’ll be submitting my creation today 🙂  If you’re playing along too, please leave a comment to let me know!! I’d love to see what you’ve created.

And now.. without further “ado”.. My Friday Mashup challenge 95 AND Sunday Stamp challenge 34 creation!!!!

And now for a close-up of the dimensional flower..

Image 13D flowers look so pretty and it’s really a very simple technique used to create them.  All you do is distress three paper flower shapes on a foam pad with a bone folder — this helps separate the paper, peel the front and back of the paper (so one flower shape creates 2), re-layer them and affix them all together with a brad through the centre.  I’ll be adding the technique on Thursday so you can make some too!

Supplies needed for my Welcome Spring card:

  • Ink: Versamark
  • Marker: Raspberry Ripple
  • Framelits: Hearts a Flutter
  • Edgelits: Adorning Accents
  • Textured Impressions: Adorning Accents
  • Stamp Set: You are Loves
  • Cardstock: For card: Raspberry Ripple; Old Olive; Brights DSP
  • Cardstock: For flower: Pretty in Pink; Real Red; Primrose Petals
  • Embellishments: Glimmer in Colour brads (cause you need a little ‘bling’)
  • Adhesive: SNAIL; GlueDots®

Have a Happy Sunday!!

Fabulous You!

Happy Fabulous Friday everyone!!

My family has had a super-terrific week, and I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow during my mish-mash post 🙂 Right now, I’ve got something just as fun to share!

As you know, I’ve discovered all these fabulous online creative card challenges.. and today, I’m entering not one, but two!! I know… it’s soooo fabulously exciting that I just had to share!!

The first is a sketch challenge by The Paper Players.  I really liked the simplicity of the layout and I had the perfect stamp set for it, Fabulous You, by Stampin’ Up!  I just love this set.. and it has absolutely nothing to do with my love of fabulous shoes!! 🙂
