Weekly creative challenges to inspire you

Merry Monday Christmas Challenge

Hello everyone!

I’m participating in a new challenge.  The Merry Monday Christmas Card #90 Challenge.  This weeks challenge is to create a Christmas card and use ribbon or twine.  To visit their blog, participate, read the rules or visit other participating blogs, click on the image below.

This is the card I made.  My inspiration came from two of the cards showcased in the 2013 Holiday catalogue from Stampin’ Up.

The recipe:

  • Cardstock/DSP: Cherry Cobbler; Very Vanilla
  • Kits: Merry Moments Simply Scrappin’ kit; Pop n Place Holiday Gift Tags
  • Ink: Gumball Green
  • Stamp: Wonderful Wreath
  • BigShot/Punches: Expression thinlits; Pretty Print embossing folder; mini punch
  • Embellishments: Basic Pearls; Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon
  • Adhesive: Tombo Multi Liquid Glue; Glue Dots; SNAIL; Dimensionals

It’s fortuitous that the challenge for this week is buttons, and yet, makes me wonder if my Nanny didn’t have something to do with it being the challenge for this week.. a week that has particular meaning to my family.  It’s time to bring a post I wrote for my grandmother over from my old blog.

The challenge for this week is to make a project using handmade buttons.  Make buttons from anything you like: wood; clay; paper-mache; anything that strikes your fancy 🙂 Make a card, a scrapbook page, decorate an object, or a frame, make one special button or a kazillion of them!

Hope you have fun with this challenge.  It’s one I’m going to have fun with.

Hello Monday! It’s Time for Your Weekly Creative Challenge

It’s that time of the week again.  Creative Challenge #8!

But before I reveal the challenge.. you might need a little conversion refresher:

1 yard = 3 feet = 91.44 centimeters

You might be wondering why you need the refresher (or rather, why I needed the refresher and thought it nice to share!) And, the answer to that is because the challenge for this week is:

create something… a card, a scrapbook page, or anything else that you feel like creating… that uses one whole yard of ribbon!

I’ve started working on my challenge creation and will be posting it on Wednesday.  A yard of ribbon, wow! That is a lot of ribbon to get on a little card — have fun with your creation, and please come back and leave a comment to let me know what you made.

Creative Challenge 1, 2, & 3

Challenge #1: Use a page from a phone book.

Challenge #2: Make a creative handmade flower.

Challenge #3: Stamp on felt.

January 13th, and I’m already behind in my challenges.  75 challenges in one year which mean one a week with an extra one to complete every two weeks.

As you can see, challenge #1 is to use a page from a phone book.. and so far I have that part!  I have ripped out the last page of our phone book because I can’t remember ever using the last page.  Now, I just have to do something with it!

To stay on track I have to have all three complete by the end of the day — no pressure!

Well, we will see how I do.. I’ll be uploading pics to this entry by the end of the day! Yes! Yes, I will!  Oh, the stress.. the pressure.. to be forced into my craft room for an entire day of crafting 🙂

For those of you following along — the next three challenges will be posted tomorrow at lunchtime — with my self-imposed deadline of January 27.  Also tomorrow, an exciting annoucement from Stampin’ Up! which will auto post at 9am.

Challenge 1 and 2 completed yesterday and will be finishing up the 3rd today.
